This project is a website for boutique vacation rentals in the historic heart of Tarragona, a coastal city in Catalonia: Murmur, a group of apartments in an area rich in Roman remains. The tagline on the home page, “L’oasi de la muralla” (the oasis by the wall), sums up what we wanted to convey: a quiet place inside a city with centuries of history.

The challenge

The brief called for a website that captured the uniqueness of the location and improved the user experience through minimalism and functionality. Murmur is not a large hotel but a group of apartments with personality, and the visitor looking for it is often an international tourist who does not know the area. That visitor arrives from far away, compares options and decides fast. The site had to be clear, build confidence and make booking easy, without losing the atmosphere of a space next to the Roman wall.

The process

We customized the website architecture to meet the needs of a modern accommodation in a historic setting. The look is minimal, because clarity and ease of navigation are essential for someone who does not know the place.

The home page shows an apartment with a stone vault and the tagline “L’oasi de la muralla”. Next, a section on spaces with history shows photographs of the Roman wall remains, so the heritage context is part of the offer and not hidden away. Each apartment has its own section and its own icon, which helps tell them apart at a glance.

One of the inner pages is devoted to the “murmurs” of the bird, the fountain and the wall, a poetic way of linking the name of the property with the sounds of the space. Another page groups the amenities, an image gallery and the frequently asked questions, which is the practical information someone about to book is looking for. There is also a gallery dedicated to the oasis by the wall, so visitors can see the space before they arrive.

The result

The site combines functionality and visual appeal and reflects the elegance and historic importance of its surroundings. It has also helped increase bookings and strengthen the accommodation’s digital presence.

For the studio, it is an example of how minimalism can be a business decision and not just a matter of style. In a property of this size, every page has to answer a question from the guest: where is it, what is it like, what is included and how do I book. This website answers each of them with few words, good photographs and a structure that a foreign visitor can follow without help. If you need a website for vacation rentals, or for any accommodation with character, we would be glad to talk.
